Gorgeous 1985 CM23 – Getting Full Restoration

My name is Shawn Murphy and I am a new member with the Login Name of NorCalBoater.

I was not sure how to post pictures on this site but attached are a couple of pics of my new to me 1985 CM23. Actually I was half owner of this boat from 1989 until 1999 and just this month I had a chance to buy it back.. This boat was delivered new to Long Beach, CA in the summer of 1985 and has spent all of its 29 years in salt water. In spite of that it is in remarkable condition but she’s not without some flaws. I feel this boat is one of the most beautiful boats Cobalt ever produced and it was only produced for 3 years with a total production run of 69 units for the 3 years it was produced, 1983, 1984 & 1985. Only 15 were made in ’85 making this boat kind of rare. My ex-partner on the boat made several modifications made after I left the partnership changing the color scheme and replacing the stock 260 Mercruiser with a GM 383 Stroker. He also added a closed cooling system to correct a problem the CM23s had of ingesting water.

I have many great memories with this boat and I have moved her to the California Delta. The plan is a full restoration of this beautiful boat. It would be great if you could post these pictures for me.
