Greetings! I am the founder of MyCobalt.net. In 2005, I bought a Cobalt 343 in Naples, Florida. For several years, we enjoyed the warmth of the Gulf of Mexico, traveling frequently to Key West and the Dry Tortugas in our Cobalt 343. Nothing compares to the quality and beauty of a Cobalt Boat.
Today, MyCobalt.net is just a hobby. My day job is running www.formsonfire.com. Hop over there and give our product a try!
I’m looking at used SD’s and would love to know why Cobalt discontinued them. What do you like most about the SD versus the regular 240s? Boat looks very nice, by the way. Any advice for me as I start searching? Thanks!
Cobalt has a history of discontinuing great boats, with planned obsolescence. The 343 was dynamite but not a hot seller.
Tom,
I have wanted a 240SD ever since 2003, when I worked at the Cobalt plant as a Field Engineer for the construction company that remodeled their facilities. I love the pickle-fork design and don’t really know why Cobalt quit making this design. I actually found my boat on Craigslist from a dealer from Indiana, drove there, and purchased it. I’ve seen several on the internet, but the only advice I can give is to verify it has been maintained as suggested by the engine manufacturer. You will probably be able to tell just by looking at the boat if it’s previous owners put any TLC into it. The only two options I wish mine would have had is Perfect Pass and Captain’s Call. Good luck in your search.
Your blog is very interresting for me, i will come back here..
Nice!!! I notice that you have a KU flag on the stern though! Sacrilege!
Rock Chalk Baby!!
I was wonderin I have a yellow 2003 Cobalt 240SD and my dash (both sides) is completely different from yours? any ideas why this might be?
No idea. I haven’t seen enough of them around to tell if they made different dash configurations. I only know of the galley/seat configuration behind the captains chair.
Any one up grading? I’m looking to purchase a 1994 to 2003 Cobalt 200 to 252, BR, low hours, top shape, replacing a 1994 200 lost in recent storm. In VA. and will travel 12 +- hours each way for the right boat. Harry
I have a 1998 Cobalt 252 with 370 hours with a Dorsey Custom Trailer. I am the second owner. It has the 7.4 Litre and has always been stored indoors. It is navy and white. The boat lived on Lake Travis in Austin, TX until last year when I brought it to store it in my aircraft hangar in Fort Worth, TX. It is a solid 8.5 out of 10. I was going to sell it at the first of the summer but saw your ad looking for one. I am going to ask $23,900.00 in April/ May for the boat.
