We own a 2005 Cobalt 226 and just looking for a Cobalt Club locally. I live in Destin, FL, the land of Sea Ray and Chaparral boat owners. Cobalt boats are few and far between here. We hang out with other boat clubs here, but just checking to see how many other Cobalt owners are in the area. This website is a little quirky and would love to see Cobalt endorsement and even advertise it on their website. I had to tell my wife that Cobalt owners are like eagles. “They donʼt flock – You find them one at a time.”
We would enjoy hearing from other owners in the area.

’07 226 Merc 375 BIII Gainesville, FL. About 24 hours so far. Yes, very new, VERY AWESOME too! Yours??
Cobalts are the boat of choice in Lake Tahoe California. I’m in LA and feel the same way you do. But after a trip to Lake Tahoe, wow!
We live in Simsbury , Ct and own a 226 with Volvo Penta 5.7 GXi ….bought used a few years ago …love the boat ..it’s look , feel , performance … put in the wood kit ..( looks like cherry wood ) …black “sport” paint with black covers and bimini . Wake is a little big for the slalom skiers in the family but a great wake board boat. Do all our boating at Sebago Lake , Maine … and the 226 handles the big lake water well. Have been tempted to add the additional swim platform but find that we often beach the boat with stern out and think the boat may get knocked around more ….
Have a trailer ….only used for storage. Will never sell her … hopefully I can continue to get gas without ethinol so the engine lasts ….love the counter rotation props … but a little clumsey when docking compared to other boats I have owned…. perhaps I need a lesson. The 226 does not have a mark on her …. I will not allow it …. drives my wife nuts….but my son and daughter are in my camp.
The swim platform is awesome! I’ll never own another boat without one. Everybody on board hangs out at the back because you can sit on the platform and dangle your legs in the water. Or sit one step up and just get your feet wet from water that rolls onto the platform. And, of course it makes it easy to get out of the water since it’s so low. It’s also a great place to sit and eat; First, there’s no carpet there, and 2nd when you’re done just splash some water up on in to rinse. And, it protects people from getting as close to the prop. Finally … I know of no cons to it whatsoever. Can you tell I highly recommend??
Just got a Cobalt 226 on Labor Day in 2009. A 2001 in great shape with Volvo 5.7 engine. The previous owner put her up for sale . . . I had a Four Winns 180 . . . the guy in the slip next to me has a Four Winns 210 . . . he mentioned to me that he was going to sell his boat and buy that used Cobalt 226 . . . I laughed and said, “too late . . . I just bought her” We both cracked up . . . “well . . . that opportunity didn’t last long!”
Was not aware of what this boat could do until my mechanic took me out on it and pushed it . . . I was amazed . . .
Spent the fall, hand buffing, waxing and polishing her . . . can’t wait for MAY!!!
